New Experience Camp

New Experience Camp

2023 - NEW EXPERIENCE CAMP - July 10th – July 14th

The Bennington Police Department has partnered with the Bennington Police Association and the Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School to offer a weeklong camp beginning July 10-14, 2023, based at the Bennington Fire Department.

We are planning two phases again this year, Phase I of the 2023 New Experience Camp is geared towards area youth from 11-13 years of age and Phase II is geared towards youth from 14-15 years of age. These programs will be offered simultaneously and will allow the participants opportunities to practice and learn basic life skills in an encouraging, vigorous and enjoyable environment.

Participants will be presented with a balance of organized leadership instruction along with educational and entertaining hands-on experiences. This camp is designed to instill some of the basic techniques used in constructive decision-making, with the aim that camp attendees will leave at the end of the week with a heightened sense of their own abilities and strengths.  They should be prepared for an adventurous week with law enforcement officers, firefighters, health care providers, educators and more. We will provide a Camp Schedule for you to refer to for the week.  Drop off and pickup times will vary depending on the day’s events.

We anticipate accepting 20 youth for Phase I and 10 youth for Phase II this year. The cost of the camp will be $325.00 for Phase I and $375.00 for the Phase II participants.

Beginning April 1, 2023, the application for the 2023 New Experience Camp may be obtained at the Bennington Police Department Communications Center and by calling Heather Harrison at the Bennington Police Department or returning to this page where you will be able to download the form.

The application should be completed and returned to the Bennington Police Department, along with the fee and copy of your current Medical Insurance Card, no later than May 1, 2023. Space is limited and is on a first come first serve basis.  Acceptance letters will be mailed on or about June 1, 2023.  If you have any questions about the program, please contact Heather Harrison or Sgt. Stemp at the Bennington Police Department.
