New Experience Camp

NEW EXPERIENCE CAMP

New Experience camp began in 2002 by the Bennington Police Department and the Bennington Police Association as a way to positively connect youth in the community with members of our Police Department through shared experiences and activities. The week long camp is divided into to age groups; a phase one group for youth aged 11-13, and phase two for youth aged 14-15 years of age. These programs will be offered simultaneously and will allow the participants opportunities to practice and learn basic life skills in an encouraging, vigorous and enjoyable environment.

Participants will be presented with a balance of organized leadership instruction along with educational and entertaining hands-on experiences. This camp is designed to instill some of the basic techniques used in constructive decision-making, with the aim that camp attendees will leave at the end of the week with a heightened sense of their own abilities and strengths.  They should be prepared for an adventurous week with law enforcement officers, firefighters, health care providers, educators and more. We will provide a Camp Schedule for you to refer to for the week.  Drop off and pickup times will vary depending on the day’s events.

In 2023, the Bennington Police Department has partnered with the Bennington Police Association and the Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School to offer a weeklong camp beginning July 10-14, based at the Bennington Fire Department.
